Is IPTV Down Today? How to Check and Fix It - Smarters IPTV Canada

Channels will not load, the app shows an error, or everything was working an hour ago and now nothing plays. Before assuming the service is down, it takes about two minutes to find out where the problem really is. Most of the time the cause is at home and you can fix it yourself; when it is the service, you want to know quickly. Is IPTV down, or is it your app or your internet? These checks tell you in a couple of minutes. For more background, see Speedtest.

Follow these checks in order. Each one narrows down the cause.

Check 1: Is your internet working?

On the same device, open another app that streams, such as YouTube, or run a speed test.

  • Nothing works: the problem is your internet. Restart your modem and router (unplug for 30 seconds), and check your provider’s outage page.
  • Other apps work: move to check 2.

Check 2: One channel, or all channels?

  • Only one channel fails: that channel’s source may have a temporary issue. Try its other version (HD, FHD or a backup) and tell us which channel it is.
  • A whole category fails: note which one and message us.
  • Everything fails, including movies: continue to check 3.

Check 3: What does the error say?

Message Likely cause What to do
“Invalid username or password” Login typo, or a trial login after upgrading Retype the details or use your new login
“Account expired” Plan ended Renew; same login works again
“Max connections reached” Too many devices playing Stop a stream on another device; see multiple devices
“Server not found” / connection error Network, URL or service issue Continue with checks 4 and 5
Black screen, no error Player or cache problem Change player setting, clear cache

Check 4: Restart the app and device

  1. Close the IPTV app completely (force stop on Firestick and Android TV).
  2. Restart the device from its menu, or unplug it for 10 seconds.
  3. Open the app and try again.

If the app is slow or shows old information, clear its cache: how to clear the IPTV cache.

Check 5: Try another device and network

  • Try your phone on the same Wi-Fi with the same login. If it works on the phone but not the TV, the TV device is the problem: update the app, clear the cache, or reinstall.
  • Try your phone on mobile data, Wi-Fi turned off. If it works on mobile data but not on your home internet, the issue is between your home network and the server: restart the router, and read can internet providers block IPTV.
  • Nothing works anywhere, on any device or network: it may be a service issue. Go to check 6.

Check 6: Ask us

Message us through the contact page or WhatsApp with:

  • Your device and app.
  • The exact error message, or a photo of the screen.
  • What you already tried from this list.

We will tell you right away whether there is a known issue, and when it is expected to be fixed. Occasionally we move customers to a new server address; if that happens, we send you the new URL. See how to change the URL.

During big events

Playoff games, finals and major fight nights are when networks are busiest. If streams struggle only during these events:

  • Tune in a few minutes early.
  • Choose HD instead of 4K.
  • Use Ethernet if you can.
  • Keep a backup version of the channel in your favourites.

Prevent problems before they start

  • Keep your app and device software updated.
  • Restart your streaming device once a week.
  • Note your plan’s end date so it does not expire mid-game.
  • Keep your login message somewhere safe, so you can log in again quickly.
